Call for Abstracts

The program includes thematic sessions in which researchers/Adapted Physical Activity Professionals are encouraged to present their latest studies. Participants are being invited to submit abstract proposals for oral, poster, practical and video presentations at the Congress. The abstracts will be published in the Book of Abstracts at the time of the Congress.

Oral Presentation

In oral presentations, speakers will report recent findings in relation to programmes followed by a short discussion. Oral presentations are limited to 25 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions. Typical conference facilities are available, slides or other presentation material will need to be forwarded in advance of the conference.

*Please note a copy of your presentation will be required by Friday 30th March 2012.

 

Poster Presentation

Poster’ will be presented using text, diagrams and chart. Poster boards will be made available for posters in A1 size (max. width 90cm, height 240cm). The posters should be easily read from a distance of 1m. The selected Posters will be on display in a poster area during the Congress. The Poster Sessions will be allocated a timeslot on the 7th May. Posters will be amended by a judging panel leading to an award for the best poster.

Practical demonstrations

This can take the form of exhibitions or interactive experiential sessions where delegates take part in activities. Practical demonstrations can be up to 30 minutes duration. Indoor sporting venues including sports halls, swimming pools, gymnasiums and aerobics rooms are all in close proximity to the main conference venue. Also the conference is being held directly beside the national Park which offers opportunities for a wide variety of outdoor activity sessions. Please specify your venue and equipment requirements when submitting your abstract.

 

Video

An outline of the video content and/or a short video clip will be submitted as part of the abstract process. Following initial acceptance the final video will be forwarded by Friday 30th March 2012. Your video should be in English (or subtitled in English) and a maximum length of 10minutes.  A written script is required.

Guidelines for Scientific Abstract Submission

The abstracts are restricted to 3000 characters (including spaces, title, authors, institutions, main text and the references). Files should be titled with author’s complete name(s) and affiliation(s), city, country and official email address. It may not contain any graphs or tables. References in the text must be kept to the minimum and have to be cited at the end of the abstract.  All content of the abstract is in the sole responsibility of the author(s) of the abstract. The scientific board has the responsibility to check the quality of each abstract, the quality of the English, the usefulness of the study and to accept or to refuse it as well as to ask the authors for changes if they consider that additional information is required.

The text of the abstract should include:

  • A statement of the purpose of the study, case or project (preferably in one sentence)
  • A brief description of the methods used
  • A summary of the results obtained
  • A conclusion
  • Reflections and concrete proposals for action stimulated by the research or case

Guidelines for Innovative Abstract Submission

An Innovative session can also be selected in either of the presentation formats i.e. oral, poster, practical or video. Innovative sessions allow for the presentation of particular programmes, initiatives or case studies linked to one or more of the conference themes. A presentation may take 10-30 minutes.
